歐洲國錦賽週遇上熱浪，組織方開始增加補給、遮蔭、降溫設備，甚至調整計時賽時段。這提醒我們，夏天騎車時，設定要先保留餘裕。
高溫會讓同一個姿勢變得更難維持。
平常可以接受的把手落差，到了午後長坡或長距離團騎，可能變成肩頸、下背與呼吸的壓力。壓力一上來，煞車判斷和控車也會變差。
Huub Artz 在荷蘭國錦賽計時賽奪冠，報導同時提到當地高溫與賽事延後。計時車最容易讓人只看空力，但真正能騎完的是身體能不能在熱裡穩住。
一般騎士更應該這樣想。
夏天不要只問輪組多深、車架多硬、姿勢多低。要問水壺夠不夠、手能不能穩定握住煞把、齒比會不會讓爬坡變成硬踩、胎壓會不會在熱柏油上讓車太跳。
Paul Seixas 的新聞也有同樣訊號。車隊延後 Tour 名單，他本人從摔車恢復，但不參加法國國錦賽。年輕、強、狀態好，也不代表每一場都要硬上。
這和我們看高階車是一樣的。
一台車不是只服務當天最快的設定。它要能在熱、累、恢復不足、路線改變時，讓騎士還有修正空間。
如果最近剛摔車、剛復騎，或夏天一騎就容易心跳飄高，設定應該先往穩定走。把手不要急著降，曲柄與齒比不要只看職業規格，坐墊與手部壓力要先確認。
騎得久，比一開始看起來很競賽更重要。
